Academics and tests kept me busy through the year, but I discovered a newfound passion for Basketball. During my first year of medical school, I worked and trained hard and by the second year I was made the captain of our team. My first game as captain ended in a loss and after the game, the team got together to reflect on the loss. We had a very honest discussion and I learned an invaluable lesson that day. I learned the value of teamwork and the importance of instilling a sense of confidence in team members. Over a period of time, this helped me hone my leadership and organizing skills. I soon applied these principles at work when we started hospital rotations. I learned that better communication with the nurses fostered an environment of trust and helped make the patients feel reassured. It also minimized error and helped instill positivity in the work environment. I soon realized I would love working in Internal medicine, not only because of its integrative and comprehensive approach but also because of the high level of interaction it fosters between different
