Many people judge without taking the time to acknowledge the meaning behind it. In the autobiography I Am Malala, by Malala Yousafzai along with Patricia McCormick, the main character is Malala herself. And she faces rough conflicts throughout her teen years. When Malala was out of grade school, she found that she can no longer continue her education since she is a female. So Malala decided to do something about it and worked hard with her father to bring back girl’s education and rights from the Taliban. However, through all this hard work, Malala is criticized by the people around her. She ignores it but still wondered why they didn’t take the time to recognize her means about it. Malala was mainly criticized for her apparel, behavior, and her ideas/point of views.
To start off, Malala was also known by her traditional apparel and presents herself differently from other girls. But the people around her disliked how she presented it and/or thought differently about it. For example, on page 22, Malala says, “I was considered a sophisticated city girl and sometimes my cousins teased me because I didn’t like to go barefoot and I wore clothes bought at the bazaar, not homemade like theirs.” As people may think about her that way, they …show more content…
In other words, how she chose to do in life. Just like in page 18, Malala says, “My mother, who is quite devout and traditional, was shocked. Our relatives thought I was very bold, (Some said rude.)” Malala’s choice in this situation was to show more of her face in her interview, but her mother was shocked that her daughter was not following the tradition. Some of her family members thought it was plain rude to the religion. On the other hand, Malala wasn’t facing it towards a discriminating view, she did it to show that she will no longer hide from the Taliban’s threats. Also, showing that she will lead rather from follow the ways the other girls were doing
