I am Cuban and music plays an important role in our life and culture. Is not only a way to escape and forget daily struggles, but it is also an integral part or our lives. It is present in family gatherings, at social events and I just can’t imagine myself cooking or doing daily chores without music. I have had a good share of disappointing and unfamiliar situations in my life and music has always been my escape. It is amazing how familiar music can trigger vivid memories that seem to transport us back in time.
I remember when I first came to this country and left my family, friends and essentially my life behind. The first few months I guess I went through the amusement phase because everything was new and modern, but eventually reality started
