Community Nursing Research Paper

There are many ways in which I am comfortable with community health nursing but there are also ways in which I am uncomfortable. I am comfortable with the concept of community health nursing. I feel that I am able to assess a communities needs and do research into a community. I would not be comfortable with actually putting any plans I come up with into place though. I do not feel confident enough to recommend to a community what it needs to do to improve its health. I feel that I could come up with ideas to improve a community’s health but I would be worried that I would miss something so I would not want to enact my plans (at this stage in my education). I would not want to do harm to a community because I missed a vital piece of information …show more content…
It seems like I know a lot about it compared to what I knew before the class. I now know how many different types of community health nurses that there are. I probably would not be comfortable if I were put into a community health nursing job right now, but only because I still lack many skills and a lot of knowledge that I will receive in the year to come. After having more experience I think that I will be most comfortable in a community health nursing position. I see myself working in the community, not a hospital. It seems to me, from my limited experience, that community health nursing is a very fulfilling field. It is a great feeling to be able to identify problems within a community and to come up with a plan to fix it (whether or not the plan is acted …show more content…
When I had clinical at a pediatric office, a school nurse office, an obstetrics/gynecologic office, and with visiting nurses I felt a lot more comfortable than I did during my medical/surgical clinical. I feel more comfortable when there is less pressure and less stress, which is how I view community health nursing. There seems to me to be less pressure than in the hospital, where it seems so much can go wrong so fast. I like being able to communicate with my patient and take my time with them. I like learning about them and how they are affected by disease or disability and I feel I will have more opportunity to do that with community health nursing than hospital nursing. I want to be able to provide the best care possible to my patients which means I should not be rushed. Seeing the nurses working in the hospital, it seemed that they were always rushing to get everything done in time. I am much more comfortable when I am not being rushed. I did not feel like visiting nursing rushes the nurse at

The biggest one of all is my mother’s last pregnancy. Towards the end of her third trimester, she started having difficulties especially with her blood pressure. I remember being with her in the hospital and watching as a doctor and a couple of nurses fluttered in and out of her room.…

Research done about Certified Nurse Assistants (CNA) has shown that improvingthe quality and effectiveness of a nursing home begins with improving the satisfaction ofworkers. When CNAs are committed and happy with their job, it is easier for them toplease the residents. Research found that in order to improve the satisfaction of CNAsthere needs to be an increase of teamwork, wages, benefits, job advancementopportunities, and involvement of frontline workers. I agree with this statement. I believethat it is hard to have happy residents without happy workers.…

Overview Research is important to the professional nurse’s practice; this fact is substantiated in numerous textbooks, websites, and articles. Nurses are challenged to provide the highest quality care for their patients on a daily basis; the processes and tools of evidence-based practice can help nurses respond to these challenges (Prevost, 2014, p. 20). Kearney-Nunnery (2012) posits that involvement in research in any form adds to our knowledge base, enhances our practice, promotes improved outcomes for our patients, and fosters evidence-based practice (p. 9). According to the American Nurses Association [ANA] (2010) Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice, nursing as a profession continually evaluates and applies nursing research finding (p. 17). A lot of students believe that if they have some kind of experience with direct patient care in a facility as a CNA, then they will do a lot better in nursing program and in actual nursing care when they become a nurse. Every time someone gives me an advice about nursing, that one information that I always end up hearing. Since both CNAs and nurses work in a health-care field, it sounds like what the students are saying is true. However, that may not always be correct because there are some critical differences between direct care and nursing care that everyone should know. Both CNAs and RNs work in health-care field, take care of patient physical needs, and help them meet their emotional needs which is known as direct patient care.…

    1) Share your initial thoughts (prior to taking this course and prior to starting your clinical hours) on the role of Population and Community Health Nursing (PCHN)? My initial thoughts of Population and Community Health Nursing (PCHN) is that this nurse deals with more than just a patient medical diagnosis. From my readings I came to learn that this is very true. The PCHN not only deals with the patient but families in the community and in their own home environment. I learned a great deal from the YouTube video from our class reading this week.…

Indeed, a community nurse has a greater proactive and preventative role in population health. I have certainly had the opportunity to solidify this knowledge over the past 11 weeks. Unfortunately, it seems that much of our health care system is focused on reactive interventions rather than preventative ones. Undeniably, a reactive approach is certainly more costly than a preventative one in terms of health care and the sooner governments put more emphasis on preventative health measures the better off we will be as a population. With this understanding, as a BScN student in reactive nursing settings, I will be sure to place a greater emphasis on client health teaching, empowerment, and health…
