I Am Applying For Graduate School

I am applying to graduate school to explore how best to physically implement computation and how best to pass on what I learn to others. As physical devices get pushed to their limits, new design paradigms have begun to emerge across the spectrum of hardware architectures. This spectrum spans from prominent software-programmable devices, such as many-core CPUs and modern GPUs, to hardware-programmable technologies such as
FPGAs. I am fascinated with the design challenges inherent in these and other types of devices and want to contribute to meeting these challenges. My eventual goal is to share what I learn with others, as a professor. Discovery and education are equally important at a time when computer science as a field is advancing a great deal. I want to contribute to this ongoing revolution by learning about different ways to physically implement computation, while giving back to the current and next generation as an educator.
How to implement computation involves design decisions from the application to the hardware architecture level. As non-parallel CPU performance is no longer scaling with time, these devices are evolving to support higher core counts and more elaborate system interconnects. I want to learn how these next-generation compute engines can be designed to support next-generation applications. Furthermore, I would like to study how novel architectures can support different applications sharing similar computational needs. Novel architectures can

With Trumps ascendancy to the highest office in the nation, progressives from coast to coast experienced a collective disorientation. Overnight we have transitioned from a nation passing landmark legislation such as the Affordable Care Act, to egregious court orders banning the passage of those who see America as a shining city on top of the hill. The beginning of my undergraduate career is not impressive and not worthy of holding the title of a PA. A student’s GPA is important in order to be accepted into a medical school or any other healthcare professional school, I was well aware of that, but I did not hold the maturity to excel in my academia. However, I’m grateful to realize my mistake halfway through my semester and searched for help to turn the downhill route my grades were taking. In attempts to remedy my subpar GPA, I added a second major to help with my overall GPA; however, I did not choose a major that would be considered easy, but I chose Psychology, a major that is challenging. It soon became evident of my success in throughout the rest of my undergraduate years.…

I want to attend Baylor University because it has the main eight aspects I consider most important to me when contemplating whether or not I am interested in a school. The reasons why I wish to attend Baylor University is that it is one of the top schools in the region for education, it possesses a friendly, Christian atmosphere, and is home to the 2015 National Collegiate Acrobatics and Tumbling team. The university also has a great location, friendly community, relatively small class sizes, several meaningful traditions, and a variety of interest-based clubs. The first and most overriding reason I want to attend Baylor University is that, according to the U.S News and World Report, it is one of the top 100 doctoral-granting universities in the United States.…

True and significant life is found in Jesus Christ and because of my firm conviction of this it has been my primary objective to point people to Jesus. Being persuaded that Christ wants Christians and especially those who take leadership roles to minister to the needs of others, I have ordered my life to conform to that conviction. Ultimately, Jesus desires that each Christian serves him by serving others; this is accomplished in a variety of ways – feeding those who are hungry, teaching everyone the life saving Gospel, and by leading in a way that reflects the glory of Christ. It has been my immense pleasure to have had the opportunity to preach God’s Word to thousands of people over the past fifteen years. It is my sincere passion to see people embrace Christ Jesus as their Lord and savior and to be transformed by the renewing of their minds through the Word of God.…

Another reason I chose computer science is because computers are shaping the direction our world takes and I want to play a part in that. The idea of writing a program that helps a physicist decode the secrets of the universe or a doctor discover a cure for a serious disease holds great appeal for me. Computer science is a continually growing field and with computers becoming involved in almost every aspect of our lives it should remain so for the foreseeable future. Thanks to computer chips imbedded in everything from basketballs and shoes to computer-controlled thermostats more and more computerized data is being produced daily and to manage the acquisition, storage and use of this data will require computer scientists [1]. While sending jobs overseas will slow some aspects of computer science-related job growth overall computer science jobs are expected to continue growth through 2020 [3], [4], [5].…
