I am a raccoon, as you see me right now. Roaming around the garbage bins, breaking open the richly filled garbage bags, sniffing around for the stinking remains that will become my luxurious rations to share with my little ones. Sometimes I am lucky. I can find a wet watermelon shell with some melon seeds stuck on to it. I bring them to my little ones, prancing surreptitiously to avoid unnecessary attention, and bit the juicy peels into smaller sizes, chewing into manageable softness and feed each of my babies. [stiff laugh] But in most times, I travel through the deep snow, bang my nose on the cold, icy floor and found nothing but some old, dry twigs. But I never complained [pause] because this is the way of living.
