And For You, Miss Deluise !: A Short Story

"And for you, Miss Deluise?" the genie asked, finally reaching me. "I wish for unlimited wishes!" I exclaimed, the words slipping from my mouth as the laughs tumbled out of those I called my companions. "Jamie, you can 't wish for that! There are rules!" Paul insisted, his glasses almost falling off as his head shook violently. All of them looked at me with pure superiority, as I apparently did not even know the rule. "No, a wish is a wish. Margo piped up, as she had decided between saving her husband from cancer or financial stability for her and her children. "I am an entity without morality. Despite having the ability to get my degree the next day, I decided I wanted the ideal college experience, although having classes at the times that fit my schedule made it much easier. Once I had settled into the new apartment and broke in the new car, I realized my greatest …show more content…
I had a degree I had wanted, a job that was above my skill level, and the wonderful family to come home to at the end of the day. I was laughing at how well my wish had turned out and how terrible the others had. Laurel 's wish of money left her murdered, Paul 's desire for world fame was fulfilled when the bodies were found stuffed in the walls of his basement, and Margo 's wish for her husband 's survival left him without a leg and penniless. I had created the most balanced wish, wishing for positive when negative hit me. A wise tactic for the last few years that was completely shattered ten minutes
