From the age of five, I’ve always been involved in the arts. I learned how to read at a far more advanced level than my friends and started winning awards for some of the writing we did in elementary school. As the course went on however I grew more patient and dedicated. I realized that if I sat down, breathed and collected my efforts, I could really transform this weakness into a strength, and with more of my time and dedication, I quickly became one of the best students in the class. Finishing that class, I knew with my newfound passion for clothing, I could really pursue something in this. As college application time came around senior year, my love for fashion only deepened. The Fashion Design class had really challenged me mentally and it proved to me that great things could be achieved if I had poured my heart into it. I found something I didn’t know I was looking for and

College is a life changing investment that prepares for life and career. The vast spectrum of knowledge, skills obtained, and experiences from a college degree more than compensates for the monetary cost of tuition. Creating art is my passion; I have always wanted to become a great artist ever since I was a child drawing on my walls and copying pictures from books. I have devoted my life to improving my talents by illustrating my own stories, practicing drawing daily, and challenging myself to earning my own money doing what I love by drawing commissions. Learning how to communicate through illustration is a valuable skill that will live with me for the rest of my life and progressing my artist career.…

In an ever-diversifying world, especially here in America, a challenge many of us face is cultural boundaries. It is not uncommon for us to be oblivious to other cultures because it isn’t one of our priorities to be knowledgeable about them. While pursuing a career in physical therapy, I am sure to treat a multitude of people from all over the world. It is imperative to my profession that I am exposed to as many interactions with cultures, other than my own; to increase the rapport I hope to have with my patients, and to become a more well rounded individual. To develop my proficiency in culture I was blessed to interview Ms. Alessandra Ramos, a 21 year-old biochemistry student with dreams of working with children as a doctor of medicine, whom I met as a new member from the Pre-Health Society, a club I am an active member in at California State University Dominguez Hills.…

Recently I acquired a job as a program manager at a women homeless shelter; which is out of my realm of practice, but in four short weeks, I have found it is where I belong. As the program director, I have also had the opportunity to consult others, such as art therapist in my agency and MSW’s in other agencies to help build my knowledge of the population. I have learned that most therapy…
