I have always been around people of different races in school and never understood why they had always been treated differently. I see black students and Asian students and I make conversation with them. To me it is no different than if I were to be talking to someone that was white. I never had an issue with race or my encounters with people of different races because I was outgoing and didn’t let a minor detail stand in my way of having friends. For example, when I was in the fourth grade there was one young female in the class that was black. She always took it personal when we learned about black history, and I never understood why. After reading thoroughly her depiction of each stage I do not think I have left the first one. I have been blindsided by personal happiness and friendship that I never took into consideration the effects race still played in today’s society. I didn’t realize what people of other races went through or are going through now. I look around at people I communicate with and they never speak of it or act like it is going on.
