Decent Essays
This paper will include the reasons why I want to become a teacher based off the questions:
“Why do you want to become a teacher?”, “Who or what are your influences?”, “What do you hope to accomplish as a teacher?” and “What will be your legacy?”. I will include names of teachers I had in the past; how they have inspired me and why they have influenced my decision to become a middle school teacher. I will also discuss why I prefer to teach middle school instead of middle school or high school. I have a few methods for teaching a few math concepts as well so I will discuss those in greater detail.

Becoming a teacher is the only thing I could imagine myself becoming. I love to spend time with kids and knowing that I can help them prepare for

I had three specific teachers that were my biggest influences: Stephania

Flecca, Christina Jarosinski and Pauline Clark. Stephania Flecca was my 12th grade english teacher.
She influenced me because she was always so engaging in her lessons and knew that not everyone would be interested in what she was teaching. She did whatever she could to get every student involved and related all of her lessons to something in pop culture so that everyone could relate to it. It’s a lot easier to understand a lesson when it’s related to something in your life. Christina Jarosinski was my 8th grade english teacher. Her and Stephania Flecca were very similar. They basically had the same teaching style. They were the two reasons why I picked english as one of my focus subjects. Pauline
Clark was my main influence to become a math teacher. She never had a boring lesson. She always incorporated something fun like a game or a puzzle to keep us interested. When she was teaching us new concepts that were difficult, she would either find songs or make up songs to help us remember them. I want to become a teacher that combines all of these methods together to ensure that my students are never bored or

That way, It’ll be hard to forget. For example, to divide fractions, just remember “dividing fractions easy as pie, flip the second and multiply”. It’s hard to forget and makes it easier to grasp the concept if they don’t understand it right away. Rhymes helps with memorizing methods and new concepts. I hope to accomplish a community where students feel like they can answer a question even if they are not completely sure what the correct answer is. I want to have students come back to visit me and say “I still use this in my classes now, they really helped me remember.” I want to be an influence for students that may not have a positive influence in their lives. That is what I hope to accomplish as a teacher.

My legacy. It’s hard to say what my legacy will be. It all depends on what my students think of my methods of teaching and how well they learn. I hope my legacy will be related to being helpful towards my students, a positive influence and a trustworthy adult, someone a student can talk to about any situation and trust that I can point them in the right direction. My legacy will not be determined until

The desks in the classrooms were set up for collaborative learning which seemed to really work for her students. Mrs. Gaither also did great job in teaching with all the different learning styles so that she could reach each student’s preference. After each assignment, Mrs. Gaither went around to each individual student and went over their answers with the student. Based on what answers they got wrong is where she would focus more attention. I found this style of teacher very helpful to each student because it wasn’t just as a whole.…

Each person has his or her individual path to follow, no two paths are exactly the same; but, every now and then, paths interweave and people construct bonds with each other. In the case of Sonny and his brother, the narrator, in James Baldwin’s short story, “Sonny’s Blues”, their paths were parallel with one another until they grew up. Sonny left the slums of Harlem, aspiring to become a musician, while his brother settled in Harlem and became a teacher. Although the narrator and his brother ended up with completely different lives, the narrator being a family man with a teaching job and Sonny, an ex-convict playing jazz at a club, are ironically more similar than they are portrayed.…

1 I come from a long line of educators and administrators on both sides of my family. Various relatives of mine have taught me to understand and appreciate the importance of education. After visiting the classroom a handful of times, I absolutely fell in love.…
