This course was a challenge for me. But, somehow I intuitively felt that this course will turn myself upside down. And when came the first day, I felt uncomfortable, because it started to unpack the things that I try to hide far, far away to forget since my childhood. I am talking about my shy, red face during my music performance or reading a poem in front of the class. I felt myself again a shy, little girl. But my major is Education. I love kids, to teach them and learn from them. But without performing skills I will not be able to be a successful teacher. I’m so glad that I had this opportunity to participate and learn a lot of helpful strategies that will help me to improve my teaching performance during my lessons. During this course, I had an opportunity to learn and try a lot of different techniques. These techniques are used by real actors for their performance and very helpful for teachers to know. For example, every teacher must be a great speaker and the ability to change the timbre of the voice. The read-aloud activity helped me to improve and practice my skills in diction and voice tone during the reading. Also, I was able to …show more content…
This part, of course, opened me a new reading style. I am not saying that I didn’t know about this writing style, I just didn’t have a situation in my life to read this kind of book. It was a great example of how dramatic reading looks and then try and participate my final performance. The final performance will be tomorrow. I am writing my reflection day before, but I can definitely say that this performance and everything that I learn in during this course will be in my used in my teaching career. I can see and imagine how I and my students preparing some scenes from history for better understanding and practice their visualization. Or invite the parents for holiday show, for example, Mother’s day, and perform poems, some beautiful scenes, dance, and

Judging by the covers and the synopses of the books, Jungle of Bones, The Beginning of Everything, and Gated, you wouldn’t think they would have anything in common. However, they do. The main characters in each book face and overcome very difficult conflicts that are very different at first, but then reveal that all relate to each other in one way or another. The first way these books are similar is that they all have to do with “survival”.…

    - 10 points: What were the 3-5 presentations that really stood out to you as well done (excluding your own presentation)? Why did they stand out, what did they do differently? The most distinctive element that made presentations stand out from others were passion. As I read the Woods Runner, I noticed many elements of the story that made it more engaging and easier for the audience to follow along. It was due to these elements that I found the Woods Runner to be an entertaining novel. The story takes place during the time of the Revolutionary War. Samuel, a thirteen year old boy, who lives on a settlement in Pennsylvania discovered his parents had been kidnapped after an attack on their home.…

The greatest lessons in life are generally learned through past experiences one has, yet for many others, lessons can be learned through a work of literature, within the challenges the character’s face. Although often perceived that one cannot fathom the challenges the other faces until they face the challenge themselves, both A Doll’s House and A Lesson Before Dying challenge that idea, as through literature, I felt as if I faced the struggles the characters faced and learnt from them. In novels and plays read during this course, oppression was the dominant theme. In A Lesson Before Dying, Ernest Gaines drew attention to oppression by racism and poverty through the character Grant Wiggins, a teacher for the black children on the plantation.…

Since a young age, I have never enjoyed books with a happy go lucky feel or a fairy tale ending. One of my favorite books as a child was Charlotte’s Web, because there wasn’t a predictable resolution where everyone was content. It built a realistic feel as opposed to a story like Frindle, where everything seems to work out well between the characters and everyone is satisfied. Going into middle school, I found myself drawn to mystery novels because of the unknown factor, nothing is expected about a mystery. During the first week of my freshman year of high school, Ms. Arnett brought our class to the school library at the end of what seemed like an excruciatingly long class period.…

The course AFAS 160 D1 is my first online class, and until now I still felt lucky to choose this class as one of my general education classes, because it gave me a great opportunity and an eye-opening experience about learning the African American Culture which I have never learned before and also gave me a chance to learn online. Describing this course to someone else, I would say this class is interesting and if you want to learn this class well, you need to prepare the Voice Thread and read the book carefully. To be honest, making videos on Voice Thread gave me a unique experience. I still remembered the first time I made a video on Voice Thread how nervous I was, I was afraid to have different ideas with other students and worried if they disagreed with me what should I do?…
