Individual Reflection Paper

Learning can be interpreted in many ways to different individuals, although to me learning is about gaining knowledge and embracing every experience encountered and linking it to any task. Also I would explain that being open minded is a strong attribute to apply during the learning process. During my week one I stated that learning is to open and broaden an individual’s mind on subjects to gain knowledge or skills, and I’ve grown to realize its more than that. People can learn using different methods and be more responsive to one rather than the other. I am a Strong-Willed learner. I can use all of my learning patterns at the Use First level without the need to avoid any, applying each pattern depending on the task at hand. I use Sequence …show more content…
Sequence (28) was used by reading through the instructor guidance and follow into the task where I would read each step of Prepare, Reflect, and respond to peers and apply it in sequential order. Precision (34) was used by seeking information through the appropriate chapters in our course digital material to apply the data to quizzes. Confluence (32) was used to brainstorm my discussions and bring originality to my posts. Technical Reasoning (29) was used to write brief responses for journal assignments and peer responses in order to get my point across without excess …show more content…
I was a non-degree seeking student before this class so I’ve tested the waters of online learning already. This class however set the bar of importance and a solid foundation as it taught me how to apply myself and be an intentional learner. I was expecting this class to be dull, however with the informative course material, great instructor feedback, and peer interaction, it exceeded my expectations of a great class. What I take from this class can be applied throughout life, allowing me to adjust my learning capabilities and use what’s best for each task I’ll come

As an incoming freshman in August of 2015 taking Rhetoric 105, I not only learned how to take apart papers, summarize, paraphrase, analyze and construct passages, but overall to be a great thinker. There are many ways that a person can tell you that works to become a better thinker, but it starts within you. While writing papers this fall semester, I learned that my writing became better when I a. understood what was being asked of me via the criteria, b. allowed myself to make mistakes in order to understand what I was and wasn 't doing correctly, c. I started to question myself, not in a way of was the work too hard, but in the sense of what the assignment and the thesis I am creating is asking. At this stage, you have to be completely real…

Mid Reflection This mid-reflection was based on the first six interviews during the data collection. The purpose of the mid-reflection was to compare the researcher’ pre-reflection and understand of the African-American farmer's experience with UF/IFAS Extension with deeper actual knowledge of the data (Wilcke, 2002). From this point, the researcher identified the new understanding of the lived experiences with African-American farmers with UF/IFAS Extension. Self-Reflection 2 Eliut Lopez-Enriquez Millersville University Moral distress comes in many ways to many nurses. My moral distress situation came about when an unresponsive patient came to the emergency room and the family had a Do Not Resuscitate/Do Not Intubate paperwork. I was the primary nurse; the house supervisor was present to ensure that the proper paperwork was at hand. After verification of the paperwork and talks with the family, the team stood by to ensure the patient no further suffering and no further distress felt by the family.…

I only chose three to discuss but I think that most of them are really important to at least try and implement in the classroom. As a teacher, I will find out that some strategies work and some do not but that is why there are many different options to choose from. I have learned about some of the information within this article in my other classes but we have not really gone into detail, so that is another reason why I liked this article because it provided an example for each strategy. The only connections I have with any of these strategies is what I have seen used in a classroom while observing. Some of the strategies have been used very well and have been successful while others have been used incorrectly or are not at all successful.…

The first skill that was used to engage my client was using an open ended question at the beginning of my interview. According to Hohman (2002), “open-ended questions are those that have a variety of possible answers and do not limit the client” (p.20) using this strategy allows the client to explore his own thoughts and it encourages the client to do most of the talking. I started my conversation with my client by asking a simple open question for example “how was his day going ?” later I saw myself asking deeper questions such as “You mention that your brother is an alcoholic, how is your relationship with your brother?” this allowed me to listen to my client story in his own words and to keep the interviewing flowing.…

In simulation this week, I was effective in remembering the majority of the steps for the head to toe (I always seem to forget orientation and capillary refill). I quickly realized at the end if I had left out any steps and by the end of simulation I felt much more confident in completing a head to toe exam. I also did a good job of noticing what my peers missed during their head to toe exam.…

My use of precision has greatly benefited, it has allowed me to use greater detail and elaborate on my thoughts in greater depth. Also, knowing that I do not use confluence as much as I should has enabled me to focus more on its use, and in turn has help me brainstorm new ideas on what to write. While you may expect that a new combination of learning pattern knowledge would provide a certain degree of challenges, I have not found that to be the case. I have found that all four of the patterns work in a much more efficient manner when used together. The biggest challenge for me will continue to be my attention to detail, and making sure that I stay on course with my studies.…
