Carissa has been teaching Kindergarten through six grade students with intellectual disabilities for 20 years. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology (Concentration: Criminal Justice) degree. She later completed the teacher’s licensure program with a concentration in Language Arts, Social Studies, and Special Education. When she reflected on why she chose to become a special education teacher, Carissa shared:
I have always has a passion for individuals with special needs. Before I became a special education teacher, I was a Mental Health Case Manager for Easter Seals UCP. During that time, I established a closer relationship with individuals with special needs and that is when I developed a desire to become a special education teacher. I love teaching!
Carissa’s teaching philosophy is implementing technology in educational settings is imperative in the 21st century. Technology has become a part of everything we do; therefore, I feel that it is the key to a bright & successful future! I strongly believe that implementing technology devices in educational settings of students with intellectual disabilities is the most valuable technology instructional tool that can be used to enhance students’ academic abilities.
Chloe is an exceptional children teacher. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a second Bachelor’s degree in Special Education. This is Chloe’s eighth year teaching at her current educational site. She has an overall average of 25 years…
