Optimism is Key to Survival Without optimism, everyone would be anti social shut ins. They would not have the courage to leave their houses and converse with others. Pessimists are constantly thinking that everyone is a terrorist or that they are going to become serial killers. If I wasn’t an optimist, there is no way I would have made it this far. My life has included both positive and negative events, but I have chosen to seek the good through it all, even though it might have been difficult. Seeing the good in people is not a difficult task to me. I just imagine how they all began, as babies. Babies are all adorable and innocent. They are never looked at with hatred or distrust. It is hard to imagine a baby hurting anyone. It is much easier to imagine them becoming successful doctors or lawyers. This is because everyone is optimistic when it comes to babies. It involves much less thinking and even less time spent worrying. Actions can even be done faster by optimists because they tend to have more self-confidence, due to the fact that they are not constantly doubting themselves.
While I was walking to history class, I found a twenty-dollar bill on the floor. I wanted to turn it in, but there was no way I could make it to the office and then back to class in the two remaining minutes that I had. I decided the most practical option would be to bring it to the nearest teacher. Rather than worry if that teacher was going to take the money for himself, or not, I trusted that he would do the right thing and turn it in.
Optimism has helped simplify my life and has made me a happier person. Without it, I would not be able to live my life completely. My life would be filled with anxiety and discomfort. Deep down, I think everyone is optimistic. Some people may even be optimistic about being optimistic. Others may remain optimistic about being
