I don’t remember much about writing in elementary school. I remember writing book reports in middle school, which were pretty simple. When I got to high school, writing started to get complicated. We had writing tests we had to prepare for and we had to learn all of the rules for writing. I started to just write for the grade and not for enjoyment. Teachers began to enforce writing and not in a pleasing way. We would go months without writing and then one day my teacher would expect us to write a perfect paper. Sometimes we would write so much that I dreaded even hearing the word “essay”. There was never a happy medium. Writing became overwhelming.
As I continue to grow as a reader and a writer, I have many goals. My first goal would be to venture and read new things. At the moment, fiction is the only thing I take the time to read, besides school reading. It is time to broaden my library and mature in my reading. Another goal I would like to accomplish is to start enjoying writing. Writing is a good way to get thoughts down on paper that I can express. I don’t want to see writing as job. If I practice, I think I will start to have fun with writing. The time to change my attitude about writing is
