I am a perfectionist, a firm believer that if one puts enough dedication and effort, any personality flaw can be corrected. However, it was not until I read a couple of books from Josh MacDowell and sections of Summa Theologica that I understood this valuable principle. While undergoing physical development, I was frequently called arrogant. Although this labeling was sometimes based on a superficial evaluation of my personality; eventually, I understood that no matter what my opinion was if I wanted to be accepted by my peers and succeed in a collective society I would need to implement some changes. So, by my early twenties and after reaching some degree of maturity, I engaged myself in reading literature concerning spiritual growth and virtuosity.

Many experiences have contributed to developing and shape my character, so I will present some of the most relevant ones. While living in Greece, my father and I did not have enough resources to acquire food, so I helped him to plant vegetables in the back yard. Every day after school, I would spend one hour minimum taking care of the garden. Having obligations so early in my life, helped me to develop a sense of responsibility. While in Venezuela, I also lived in scarcity, I collected empty aluminum can and copper cables and sold them as scrap metal. It was hard to withstand people 's judgmental staring but necessity made me swallow my pride, my survival was first. While living in the US and because I had left my partner in Cuba, I urgently needed to create capital so I could reunite with her. Thus, I started working on a maintenance company picking up trash and mowing grass. In fact, after realizing how the brain deals and encodes information, I even dedicate less study time prior any exam, and as a bonus, anxiety has also disappeared. With respect to my future medical education, the only aspect that really concerned me was not being properly prepared to face the first year. But, after having enrolled in several upper division courses, I feel more confident now.
Many disparities in clinical treatment that minority classes undergo in the US could be eradicated by increasing the number of graduate physicians pertaining to underrepresented classes in the medical field. Because this academic institution has within its tenets to form community-based professional, I truly believe that I would be the perfect candidate considering my social background. My former and current research experience are also in accord with the mission of the FIU College of
