I am Cooper Cox from Houston, Texas, studying Construction Science at Texas A&M University. I am a member of the Corps of Cadets in Squadron Seventeen, and I have just completed my freshman year. I am certain that my position as a freshman in the Corps, learning how to lead by following, taught me more for my future than I am able to digest at this time. I have a love for construction and managing projects. Although still unsure about what I area will pursue with this degree, one major goal I have, no matter what field I work in, is to impact people.
The person I will be in ten years starts today. The decisions that I am making now will impact my future. I believe that choosing a negative path will amount to decisions that will be fulfilling during the moment, but destructive over time. Those decisions include

With the Construction Science degree I will earn from Texas A&M University, I envision being hired in a field of construction: residential, commercial, or industrial. All three of these fields sound fascinating. I can picture myself being a manager and problem solver in each of these fields. In order to ensure this will happen, I will attend class, learn how to learn, and not specify in one field. I will pursue internships in residential construction, commercial construction, and industrial construction in order to discover which field peaks my interest. One challenge I will face will be landing the job that is a right fit for me. In order to help solve this problem, I must confidently ask men older than myself what they appreciate about their job. By doing this and comparing my interest with theirs, I can learn what field of construction is best for

But many of the choices a person makes are larger than these, choosing a field to major in, or choosing a spouse, perhaps. Clearly, our choices are important because they determine our character and future, but they are also important because many, if not all, of our choices, directly affect others and the people around them.…

In one sentence, Franklin teaches a great life lesson that is still applicable today. Never forgetting where one came from, keeping an eye on their destination, and considering who they answer to is a crucial part of leading a life of integrity.…
