I am a high yellow mixed boy, wouldn’t say I’m rich and wouldn’t say I’m poor. I am educated and unhealthy, and one with a lot of resentment. I’ve always been taught “Stop talking white, and you sound stupid talking like that.” I’ve always been the type of person to ask a lot of questions so my response would be simply what does it mean to talk white? Society has taken the word “proper” as a way to attract white culture. What does it mean to be proper? (Proper means to represent something done correctly or with satisfaction.) Now somebody tell me what does this mixed boy know about proper. I catch myself sometimes when I hear people speaking in different languages usually there’s a face that follows. Dr. Gay focused generally on genocidal languages. Genocide refers to the killing of a large group of people. Dr. Gay expounds on the idea that people attack others because of their comical way of using words. I truly beleive Dr. Gay focuses on how it shouldn’t matter how people speak or even how people talk the main focus should be to stop allowing language to cause physical violence. When you actually sit back and look at it words hurt people just as much as physical blows do. Dr. Gay expounds on the idea that why are we focusing on how people talk when really it doesn’t matter all words no matter how you use them can hurt people. I know it’s hard to take it in but words hurt just as much as sticks and stones. I truly believe Dr. Gay fouses on an important point and it trul shows peoples true intentions. Hannah Arendt says one of the most profound thing.” It is crucial that there are many languages and that they differ not only in vocabulary, but also in grammar.” Hannah focuses on the idea that accents should not be the focus point when talking about language the use of grammar should be the main focus point that people should talk about. Hannah just believes that it’s ironic for people to judge each other because of their accents. I believe she has a great point. How can we judge someone with an accent when what they are saying should be more important. In todays society it is so sad how we take it upon ourselves to laugh and joke at someones accent. Majority of the people in the world take Mexicans and Black people to be igonorant but uses this term smart with the white people. Do we judge people by accents becuase we think we are more stable in our use of language? Hannah and Dr. Gay brings up two poignant points. I guess people from England descent are the only ones who speak great english becuase society hates anything that doesn’t sound right to
