Levels Of A Great Leader

Superior Essays
1. The first thing that I learned a lot about is the levels of leaders. Before this class, I thought there were only good and bad leaders and maybe some in between. It never occurred to me that there were different levels. I finally understand why it’s so hard to be a great leader (Level Five). There are so many components that go into it and it takes years and years of experience. This is extremely important because I want to look at my leader and be able to analyze them. I would really like the fact that I can understand how different leaders work in different areas and be able to pin point what I like or don’t like about them. Secondly, I learned a lot about Nelson Mandela that I had no idea about. I never really learned a lot about him …show more content…
The group arrangement and size went well for my group. We chose who would be best for our strengths and weaknesses and we worked together very well. I believe that letting the students pick the groups is the only choice. If students are forced to work in a group that they are not comfortable in, they won’t be able to work in cohesion. There will be issues of trust, work ethic, and timing. If the groups are chosen by the students, I believe there would be a significant change in the quality of work. In groups that the students aren’t comfortable with each other, they won’t trust each other. This is a lack of trust in how much quality they will put into their work, if they will show up on time (if at all), and if they will put in as much work as you think that they should. Ideal group size is harder to know. There is no exact number that will work for every single group. Within each group, they will chose who will work best with and that ideal group size is up to them. Each group will be open to the group as they select who and how many they want to work with. As far as the learning activities go, I think that this refers to the articles and readings. We had the tables present some of the articles or concepts on the board with the information and the main points. I think that was very interesting and helpful as I wanted to see other’s ideas and reactions to the different readings. It also made me connect to the articles more and sometimes understand them better. The most interesting thing was when we all talked about the articles or readings and everyone had an idea or thought on

For the book Be-Know-Do the title of the book starts with Be rather than Know or Do. This is significant because of what each word stand for in the book. Be is for a person’s character, Know is the skills the persons possess, and Do is bringing those two together and acting on them. The author of Good to Great, Jim Collins, calls a level 5 leader, which is what the book Be-Know-Do is attempting to teach readers to become by using all three terms.…

George Washington’s Leadership Lessons by James C. Rees with Stephen Spignesi, written in 2007, offers us a delightful insight into the leadership lessons that our country’s first president can teach. Philosophy of Literacy Literacy was once defined as the ability to read and write, however today is in every aspect of education. Without proper literacy instruction a student might be able to read and write, but he might not know how to properly understand new concepts and engage in advanced reading, writing, speaking, debating and listening. Teaching literacy should be included in Math, Science, History and even Art. For a teacher concepts are invaluable. They are what we teach, however literacy is how we teach it.…

The different parts of a direct teaching plan are: state the learning objectives and orient students to the lesson; review prerequisites; present new material, conduct learning probes; provide independent practices; assess performance and provide feedback; and provide distributed practice and review. Each aspect can be incorporated into different areas of a lesson plan and some are already present. In the first aspect, learning objectives, each lesson is started out with an introduction that will grab the students interest and let them know what they will be learning during that lesson. When you review what students will be learning, you also review the skills the prerequsites needed for them to complete the assignment or lesson tasks. During the presentation of learning materials and teaching the lesson, the teacher has the chance to model for what they are learning and there is also the chance to activate prior knowledge.…

My past experiences working in groups through Liberty University and through other schools has been positive to a certain extent, but group projects always add a certain amount of stress. There are a few groups that have been fantastic and a few groups which have had lagging group members which make it difficult. I would say that my personality type is extremely laid back, but I also like for things to get done because, at this level, good grades are essential. A few annoyances that I have discovered while working in groups is when individuals place blame on others specifically.…

Learning how to live as a Christian in today's world should be purposefully transformational. Without some way of determining whether learning is taking place, we cannot know whether what we teach is making a difference. Teaching adults is a process, not an event. Participants in adult discipleship or Bible study groups are not studying for weekly tests or final examinations; they seek help for living each day in Christ. Personal participation in meaningful ways long have been shown to increase the retention and application of learning in adults.…

I am grateful to be able to say that I have never worked for a principal who I have viewed as a boss. The two I have worked under were inspiring leaders who worked diligently to lead the teachers on the missions they declared for the school.
