I Am A Feminist

I am a feminist. These days this word has been misconstrued to the false belief that it means that one believes that females are superior to men. Often times i’ve noticed men and even sometimes women getting upset when one defines themselves as a feminist because of this false belief. Some people who are feminist do take it too far but this is not the core values of what it is. Feminism is defined as the advocacy of women 's rights on the grounds of political, social, and economic equality to men. Most people follow this belief, a majority of feminists are not just advocating for better conditions for themselves, feminism is about helping and supporting women all over the world and trying to make things better for future generations. My father being a stay-at-home dad for most of my life he was often ridiculed by his father and many other people, people assuming he’s lazy or too incompetent to go to work when in actuality it 's the opposite. My father helped me with my homework and still does to this day, he makes dinner, he cleans, he make sure the entire household is in order and this is something my mom is unable to do most days and without him my mom wouldn 't be able to have nearly as successful of a career as she has. Feminism needs to be more about the bigger issues in life, we need to help people in other countries who don 't have it as nice as us Americans. The biggest things that i’ve learned is someone needs to be advocating for the boys, they have an immense amount of problems that never get talked about and if they try “feminists” shut them down. Feminism needs to be revamped and I want to try to be one of the people helping that because I want to see a change in the all people are treated, not just white, upper middle class Americans that feminism is focused on
