I Am A Citizen Of America

Every morning I place my right hand over my heart and recite the pledge of allegiance. I stand tall at any sporting event and proudly gaze at the American Flag during the National Anthem. I am educated on current events along with the election that will take place this November. I do not believe in blue lives matter or black lives matter, but I do believe in ALL lives matter. I respect my elders, teachers, parents, abiding students, and all of my fellow citizens. I am proud to say that I am a citizen of the United States of America. My responsibility in this country is a great amount, but only because our country is great itself.

To me, my American citizenship is very special, since I was not born in this country I had to work very hard to earn the right to be called an American citizen. Becoming a citizen has been one of the most important decisions I have made in my life. Being an American citizen comes with many privileges, for example, being able to vote on important issues. Along with the right to vote, being a citizen also comes with the responsibility of participating on a panel of juries, which is a major responsibility in my opinion. Finally, my cultural background has played a large role in shaping the meaning of my citizenship, coming from a country where its citizens have very little say in choosing their leaders I feel privileged to call myself an American.…

In my opinion, I agree with Seymour Martin Lipset, author of “Still the Exceptional Nation?”, that America is exceptional as it is “the world’s sole superpower.” (403) As Lipset mentioned, America is set apart from developed European nations for many reasons as America has exceeded the standards of greatness. America is an exceptional nation because our nation is dedicated to important principles such as human liberty and freedom in which all men are created equal and have equal rights. Our nation is explicitly founded upon the principles of human quality and natural rights.…

Carson explains that our Judeo-Christian roots and values are what set America apart from all other countries. These values include decency, honesty, compassion, and fairness.…

The United States of America: a land of opportunity, freedom, and justice. As an immigrant, I can say with certainty that there is no other place in the world that I would rather live in other than the United States. Becoming an American citizen has been by far one of the best things that have ever happened to me, not only because of having a legal status, but because of the quality of life that I can achieve for my family and for myself. All of this is possible thanks to the freedoms and the rights that we enjoy as citizens of this great nation, and that are showcased on four major historical documents that reflect the values and ideas that continue to shape our society: the American Declaration of the Rights and Duties of Man, the Declaration…
