During my last clinical day, I was in the level 2 nursery and I worked with a 33 week and 5-day old baby girl who was born at 27 weeks. She was the result of a spontaneous placental abruption and had recently graduated from the level three nursery in First Hill. Meaghan was the nurse who I worked with and she was absolutely amazing. She had a diverse background in level two nursery care and worked in many different hospitals through her travel nursing carrier. She was up to date on evidenced based practice care and very informative about the all the rational for the care she was providing.…

My day started a bit off, I had an emergency that morning that made me run a bit late for clinical. This made me miss some important information such as, how nurses in NCBH hand over to the next shift, but aside that, I had a wonderful day working with nurse Mrs. Osei. She welcomes me by introducing herself, which I responded likewise. She took me with her to do her morning rounds and administer medication to her assigned patient. After we were done with her morning medication, I went to one of her patient whom I was assign to by Mrs. Natasha to perform mini mental survey and general assessment on the patients.…

Hysteroscopy is the direct visualization of the uterine cavity and the cervical canal through a telescope-like instrument called the hysteroscope. Visualization of the uterine cavity will help detect the presence of any masses (polyps), bands (adhesions), uterine deformities (septum) and nature of the uterine lining or endometrium. The opening of the fallopian tubes into the uterine cavity can also be visualized. Hysteroscopy is a day care procedure performed between the seventh and the tenth day of the menstrual cycle.…
A Respiratory Therapists role in long-term care facility and Homecare My time working at CCOH and RHCS was exciting and interesting. Although they are both respiratory therapist jobs, they each demonstrated something different. While CCOH showed how it is to work in a long-term facility and have consistent patient interaction. At RHCS driving around to the client’s place of business or residence to check on, or collect the equipment, made it personal able.…
My LCI scores are Sequence 28, Precision 35, Technical Reasoning 22, and Confluence 19. I had worked as the Dietary Director at an Skilled Nursing Home for a short period of time. As the departments director, I was required to manage staffing, supplies, and overall functions of the department. What I most enjoyed about the job was, being able to interact with people and sit down with them to go over their needs. Teaching the staff new and more proficient ways to compete tasks was also something I enjoyed quite a bit.…
Thinking of the most rewarding experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant was a very hard decision to make. Every day I come into work the residents help brighten my day. We laugh, sing and dance together and this is when the day’s activity is over. Some of the residents are speech impaired, but I give them a big smile and asked them “how are you doing today?”…
Being incompetent, Ashly will never exercise such principle as autonomy. Her significant others have to decide on the ways on how to maintain her quality of life on the possible highest level. To determine what could be in her best interest, we may use the principle of beneficence. I would try to find out whether the very specific treatment that Ashly’s parents chose for their daughter benefited or hurt her. I agree with the group of people who argue that authorization for such aggressive treatment is much beyond of parental authority (Lyons, 2010, p. 51) and the risks of a hysterectomy outweigh the discomfort or potential skin problems associated with her menses.…
Faced with cancer in my mid 30’s, I became an instant active health care consumer. I am proud that I never sat back and let the many doctors lead the way with my care. I requested copies of all my tests and researched everything. I went to appointments armed with questions. with the type of cancer I had, I was at high risk for ovarian cancer.…
Weekly Self S.O.A.P - A. S- Discuss your SUBJECTIVE feelings for this week: I rather enjoyed myself this week. It was nice to take a break from med surg and shadow a team leader for a few hours. I observed how the ICU team leader, Kalang handled the stress of understaff nursing and seeing how she organized the day’s schedule. I observed the meeting in the morning with all management from the units to see how they were handling staffing issues and what they could do to help when one unit has difficulties.…
Today at Simulation Lab I performed health history on a patient. Firstly, I commenced by preparing myself for the interview. Although I was nervous, as a nurse I had to be confident and prepare myself mentally and kept an open mind to meet the patient. In addition to preparing myself, I prepared the environment, making sure seating and arrangement was in place and the room was comfortable and private. Having done this, I utilized Florence Nightingale’s theory of environmental need.…
What? When we started our clinical day on October 21st, the client I was assigned to care for had just left for an angioplasty procedure that would last through most of the morning. While the client was gone, I offered to help the nurses with anything that was within my scope of practice. Once the client returned to the ward, however, I had to catch up with my assessments while taking vital signs and doing vascular checks every 30 minutes for 2 hours, which kept me busy.…
When the patient was in labor and began pushing, I aided in supporting one of her legs while the nurse supported the other. I think it was truly amazing to see a child being brought into the world. The postpartum care was also a teamwork. While my preceptor was getting the ice pack, I filled the peri-bottle with warm water and placed dry tower on the bathroom floor to prevent falls. I remembered from class lecture to check for clots in the urine because abnormal size (golf ball size) can be concerning.…
I am preceptoring in a med surge floor which was not what I wished for, yet I am so glad that I am preceting in this unit. This experience is giving me the opportunity to further develop my skills and build confidence on myself. The first day of the clinical was more an orientation to the unit and the…
