Hypothyroidism Case Studies

The patient is a 99-year-old female who was hospitalized at St. Joseph's on 4/9/17 to 4/23/17 at that time, APS was involved and the issue was that there was an unsafe situation at home. We are assured by the Adult Protective Services that the home is safe for discharge. The patient was discharged home on 4/23/2017 and returned to the ER on 4/24/17. Her medical history is significant for hypothyroidism and for myelodysplasia with leukocytosis. She is on Levoxyl for hypothyroidism. The home is evidently infested with bedbugs. She lives with her son and daughter-in-law. When the EMS was called they felt the home again was unsafe and brought her back to the emergency room. This time of presentation she presented and she was hypoxic.
