Mr. Michael is 70yrs old that weights 185lb and height of 65 inches. He has hypertension, diarrhea, depression, glaucoma, and osteoporosis. Blood pressure goes up when you are active and down when you are resting or sleeping. Sudden, dangerously high, and life-threatening blood pressure is called hypertension. His blood pressure is 170/80mmhg. Several types of drugs are used to control hypertension. These medications may be used alone or combination with other drugs. ACE inhibitors block production of substances that constrict blood vessels. They also help to decrease the build up of water and salt in the blood and body tissues. So he takes antidiarrheal difenoxin with atropine 2 tablets after each unformed stool. But the patient can not take more than 8 tablets per day, and before giving this medication, I need to check a complete list of drugs that patient is taking, vital signs, listen to bowel sounds, abdomen distention and patient weight. The intended response of this will be decrease in patient’s diarrhea, and GI motility, reabsorption of fluid from bowels and decrease activity of bacteria in the body. But there are some adverse effects that we should not ignore. Constipation, feeling of fullness, confusion, dizziness and drowsiness. Before administering him this drug, check patient’s blood pressure, heart rate and mental status. So he takes citalopram (celexa) 20 mg orally once daily. This medication will correct the depression and decrease the symptoms of depression. The most some side effects of this medication are dizziness, fatigue, and insomnia and also have some adverse effects headache, insomnia, anxiety drowsiness and hallucinations. Prescriber may start with a low drug dose and gradually increase it. Also should teach him that medicine will take 1 to 8 weeks before symptoms of depression
