Hypertension- high blood pressure means that the systolic blood pressure is consistently over 140 (represent the pressure generate when the heat beat) and the diastolic blood pressure is consistently over 90 (represent the pressure in the vessels when the heart is at rest). Pre-hypertension will eventually lead to hypertension, those with a systolic pressure between 120 and 139, and a diastolic between 80 and 89 on multiple readings (“Hypertension,” n.d. ). This is a condition in which the force of blood against the artery wall is too high. Hydralazine medicine is also used for high blood pressure patient. It can be used with or without other medication to treat heart failure/ high blood pressure. This medicine may be taken my mouth with or without food; commonly 2 to 4 times a day but it may also varies by condition, response to treatment and doctor directed. The effect of the drugs on the body may take long and one should not stop taking Hydrazine even if the body feel well because the condition might be worse when there is a sudden stop of medication. The dose may be decreased but should not be stop unless instructed by the doctor (“Hydralazine, “ n.d. ).
There are some serious side effect when taking Hydralazine but the benefit to the body is greater than the risk of side effects. As the body adjusts to the drug, headache, dizziness, pounding heartbeat, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea may occur. The most effective way to reduce dizziness is to get up slowly from a sitting or lying position. Also, this product may contain inactive ingredient and cause allergic reaction and other problems depending on the patient’s condition especially those with previous blood vessel problem, stroke, and kidney
