Hygiene Policy
In Happy Faces, children are stimulated to develop the habit of cleaning their hands at the time of arrival, after using the restroom, after blowing their nose, as well as before and after eating. To dry the children’s hands we utilize disposable paper towels, diminishing the contagion of germs and illnesses. In the same manner, personal hygiene is fomented and spoken about throughout the day, and the need of using disposable loafers is explained in a group or individually, as well as where the disposable loafer boxes are located throughout the Child Care Center and that they are accessible for all children, when they need it. In the same manner, every situation that naturally occurs is used, such as when a child sneezes.

Every parent or guardian will receive the information sheet and brochure for them to sign up their child in the USDA program This is a free service for all the families. The children will receive free food (meals?), and all of the rules and regulations on the Oregon Child Care Office are followed within this program to sustain a better food handling and healthy wellbeing for the children. Throughout the day, the children are encouraged to eat as healthiest as possible and to have a balanced diet, including daily fresh fruits and vegetables. Moreover, the benefits and properties of each food group are taught to the children. During the meal and snack hours, each group teacher sits down with the children and talks with the children, introducing the colors and the names of each food in an interactive manner, giving way to creative and spontaneous development of each child. When the children finish eating they are taught to clean up after themselves and if they need help, one of the teachers will be there to assist. In the case of young children, we have a designated area where they can locate their plates and glasses, and for kindergarten and school age children can locate their plates and glasses in the dishwasher with the teacher’s help.
Collaboration with Child Development Agencies Policy
For us, Happy Faces, every child is unique, this includes any child with a special needs. Any special adaptations will be accomplished according to each child’s necessity, which includes adaptations in each area to include the child in the daily activities. The changes will be made according to the child’s special need, no matter how big or how small. The modifications will be carried out with the help of Warm Line Services specialists and other agencies, as needed.
