Hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) is killing off honey bees due to being fed affected High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS) with the deadly contaminant. The experiment should be Bruce and his father testing the HFCS in different temperatures and different areas, to see how the HMF forms. For Bruce and his father’s hypothesis: At different areas and temperatures, the HFCS develops the contaminant, HMF. The independent variable of this experiment is the HMF and the dependent variable is HFCS because the HFCS is changed due to the HMF infecting it.
