2.1. Please give a short description of the team work collaboration approach applied in your team (team management, communication and coordination, work plan, work distribution, ...) Our team consisted of 8 students from three different locations. The locations were as follows: Barcelona(3 students), Nice(3 students) and Manila/Cottbus(2 students). At the very beginning of the hydroweb project the FB messenger chat has been created which served as means for the purposes of the communication. Firstly, all students that have been assigned …show more content…
After that I started to work on WP 1.4. That wasn’t so easy because this is the first time for me to encounter a software from hydrology domain. But eventually I’ve overcome the obstacles and got familiar with it. My specific part within WP 1 was to input three pumping stations and then to do the time series for them. I needed to take into account the amount of water that will be pumped out of each polder where the stations are positioned. That was the tricky part, but I distributed it throughout model’s time frame. After that I started to work with WP 2.3. To maintain the water level in the Tonder lake for the purposes of local community the weir needed to be installed. The task was to search for adequate chainage within branch surrounding the lake for the installation. In the network interface of the MIKE 11 inside of structures the weir has been configured. I had certain difficulties with simulation and with the generation of the flooding map after the …show more content…
After running step by step tutorial my opinion has softened a bit. I‘ve grasped a beginner’s level of the software, but since I am not from Water background some basic terminology/ processes were actually first on the learning list for me. MIKE 11 has a great potential ->innumerous possibilities, I am really impressed by the precision of the Software. I have been doubtful about trusting the results from simulations, but after usage of MIKE 11 this is no longer the case. My main disadvantage is a bit different interface than interfaces of the main operation systems running on the most of the computers, this interface hasn’t included a full potential of the right mouse click function, at least I am not in familiar with that. That’s why I’ve encountered a certain difficulties while trying to insert for instance pumping station, weir etc...This is just a different logics but when you are beginner it is a huge step. Some of the advantages I’ve already covered and beside that I want to add MIKE11 is a great tool for protection against results of disturbed climate in terms of more frequent hydrological events, that’s the part that myself personally is interested
