Conclusion
The purpose of this lab was to determine the moles of water in a hydrate by practicing separation techniques to determine the mass of the components and to use chemical formulas to calculate the percent composition of water in a hydrate. The hydrate was heated three time for two minutes and weighed. The mass of the anhydrate decrease each time it was heated. The final result of the percent composition of water was 47%. The article states, “Upon heating, the water can be evaporated leaving an anhydrous salt….” This explains what was left behind after doing the steps of the experient.
