Hustle Flow Journey

Incredibly moving, Hustle & Flow is about pimp and drug dealer who struggles to make a living in Memphis Tennessee. The main characters of the movie is D-Jay, Shelby, Skinny Black, Key and Nola. D-jay, a pimp and a drug dealer, who hopes to end his illegal occupations and become involved in the hip hop industry. D-Jay seems too old and far too nice for his profession, and his "hos" seem to take notice. D-Jay represents a lifetime of failed dreams, ambitions, and wrong turns. It seems as if it could all be over, but then fate offers him the opportunity to realize his lifelong goal of becoming a successful rap star. D-Jay pours his heart and soul into his music, just as Howard pours his into the performance, and the result is somewhat of an urban rocky, a true underdog tale. D-Jay’s love for music reignited when he obtains a mini piano from a druggie outside a strip club in exchange for a small amount of drugs. The rest of the movie chronicles his journey towards a better life. One in which he intends to use music, his passion, focus and motivation to pave a new path for himself and those around him. However, D-Jay is not the only character who shows true entrepreneurial spirit. He refers to Nola as his primary investor as she becomes the backbone of his finances. Towards the end of the movie when she promises to be in charge and is able to get D-Jay’s music on the radio all by herself while he is incarcerated, she presents exemplary leadership skills. Key and Shelby both come to prioritize the music production process over their own jobs. Key even jeopardizes his marriage to pursue this passion, reinforcing the attribute of risk-taking. I enjoyed the movie, it shows what black people go through in the South. And how black men sales out their own Sisters in other to pay rent or feed them self.
