Hurwitz's Analysis

Improved Essays
As a youth, Hurwitz's priority was dynamic, radical music. As an adult, his priority has changed in that the importance now is money. From the gist of the article, it appears he is still excited and enjoys his life. Is he compromising anything to get ahead? I believe this depends on your point of view of the scenario itself. One can easily say his priorities have changed, and in doing so, his ethics have also changed. Does this imply an ethical objection to be raised? Once again, it depends. He states in the article that, “I want people to feel the excitement at my show” (Thomas-Lester, 2009). To him, I believe, this implies success, advancement, and prosperity. Hedy Lamarr was crucial in the development of frequency hopping technology that is used in military communications, Wi-Fi, as well as many other devices which had various users occupying the same radio frequency. This article written by Peter Hong narrates the life of Hedy Lamarr, the actress and inventor, going into great detail about her contributions to technology. Music and society have a large impact on each other, and how they shape the way people view and act in the world. There are four themes that identify and characterize how music has evolved over the past one hundred years. These themes also show how music affects and expresses the culture that not only we live in today, but also how we have changed in our views on numerous aspects of today’s society. The four themes that are explored directly with a specific artist and, or, band are how they impact society, politics, and several cultural issues that have stood the test of time and the way race, class, and gender are expressed in music. The development of the music industry and the technology used in it are widely affected by the change in music over decades, but also by outstanding individuals during their careers, which span over a variable amount of time.…

I chose to write about the queer theologians, Jo Hirschmann and Elizabeth Wilson, because I appreciate their emphasis on the importance of intersectionality and moving beyond “identity politics.” As someone who was raised in a Christian household, I find their perspective from the viewpoint of Jewish theologians very interesting, but I think their main ideas can be applied to any religion or faith. Their piece from Queer Jews, “Next Year in Freedom! Taking Our Seder to the Streets”, aligned with many of my personal beliefs, but they also challenged and contradicted some of my opinions. In this essay, I will analyze the writing and beliefs of Hirschmann and Wilson.…

Don Imus hasn’t shown by this Rutgers statement or previous statements to abide by any professional or ethical standards. In fact, “He once called Lesley Stahl "a gutless, lying weasel" and the news reader on his own program "dumber than dirt” (CNN, 2007). While he has continued verbal assaults on politicians or well-known celebrates this time society deemed he went way over the limit by not only insulting female athletes but pushing his comments into racial context. I would also conclude that his superiors due not hold themselves to a normative ethical model as well by letting him doing his show. Martin Luther was very bothered by the idea of indulgences, and even though he wished the church would return back to it's ways when it wasn't about power and wealth, his target was Johannes Tetzel; which, I believe was his motivation to create his theses. Johannes sold indulgences to clear the debts of the Archbishop Albrecht and to fund the rebuilding of St. Peter's for Pope Leo X. I believe he was making his point through theses and thought it would be considered as an act of acedemic freedom, therefore, a satire towards the…

Kyle Wiens works for iFixit and Dozuki one an online repair company and the other a software company. To work at both of these jobs you need to be very educated and know what you are doing, if you apply for job at either of these companies you will be given a mandatory grammar test and the slightest mistake could ruin any chance you had of getting the job. Wiens takes grammar very seriously, he thinks that if you do something as small as mixing up your “its” and “it’s” or “to” and “too” then you are not qualified to be working at either of his companies. This is is very alarming that someone trying to get a job at that level wouldn't know the differences.…

Although this percentage may seem insignificant, that number translates to well over millions of citizens who have disabilities. The World War ll historical fiction novel HHhH by Laurent Binet focuses on the life and place in the Nazi Party of Reinhard Heydrich throughout WWll and the Nazi regime in Germany until his assassination (in Prague) in 1942. Along these lines, the genre of historical fiction can be defined as a genre which illustrates a story taking place in the past during a specific time period. As previously mentioned, the novel follows Reinhard Heydrich, who was the most dangerous man in Hitler’s cabinet. The novel continues to follow him to Prague, where he ruled almost like a king.…

Hoggart, Williams and Hall chose to enter into the educational arena because it “was the social and cultural form in which they saw the possibility of reuniting what had been in their personal histories disrupting: the value of higher education and the persistent educational deprivation of the majority of their own originary [sic] or affiliated class” (“Uses of Culture” 25). The formation of British cultural studies coincided with the break in the European communist movement. Much like Marxism they were chiefly interested in power structures and the forces of domination and resistance. It is a common misconception…
