First, let's talk about tornadoes. Tornadoes can be as big as a football field, which is pretty big. It also gets faster when it loses speed. This happens because a tornado starts to lose control of the winds inside it. Tornadoes also go in a straight line, which can leave a house perfectly fine, while the one beside it is completely flattened.
Second, we'll talk about hurricanes. Hurricanes, unlike …show more content…
Both have destroyed buildings and such. Both are very big. Both also have to do with heat. You see, tornadoes happen when a cold front forms, which is when cold and warm winds clash. Hurricanes happen in the sea because the warm water and the cold air creates them.
Finally, we'll contrast the two. While a tornado is big, a hurricane is drastically larger, as it can cover much more land. As Spencer Adkins told me, "Hurricanes last much longer, as it can last days, while tornadoes can only last up to an hour." Another difference is that hurricanes have an eye in the middle, which means that it has a calm spot inside it where no storms occur. Tornadoes do not have an eye though, so it's just a solid funnel.
To conclude, tornadoes and hurricanes may seem alike, but they are very different. Both may be cyclonic, but they are still different. They do have more similarities, though. Such as the fact that they both can cause serious damage. Nonetheless, both are very dangerous and shouldn't always be taken lightly if they happen near you. Stay safe and away from tornadoes and
