Google describes the term sport as an activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others for entertainment. The definition does not include the fact that in order to make a sport what it is, it must be entertaining for both parties involved in the practice, not just for one party. Sport hunting is but a friendly name given to an inhumane act seem socially acceptable and fair. (One Green Planet) Others may argue, claiming "Hunting isn't inhumane. It's actually humane, due to the fact that hunting is 'deeply enrooted in human nature'. It's a competition between man and nature" If calling hunting humane wasn't enough, calling it a sport\competition may actually be worse. There is no such thing as a "fair chase", due to the fact that hunters are actually armed with long distance weapons, whereas animals are only armed with what they were born with. A competition is fair, not only for one group, but for both. "Quick kills are rare, and many animals suffer prolonged, painful deaths when hunters severely injure but fail to kill them", states the IDA. A hunt can either go wrong, or horribly wrong. Best case scenario, the animal being hunted is a victim of stress, but in a worst case scenario, the animal is injured horribly. Instead of the worst thing that could potentially happen being death, it's actually pain and suffering. The animal injured will slowly die without proper veterinary treatment, which is wholly inhumane if anything. As mentioned before, animals feel the same things as do humans- love, fear, and pain. I had a relative who was diagnosed with cancer about three years ago. At first he wanted cancer treatment, and he got better after a while. But after three years, he felt terribly ill and was taken to the hospital. He only had three months to live, but they would be long,
