Decoying and jumping waterfowl are similar and different in many ways including time, effort, and amount of equipment The time put into waterfowl hunting differs from decoying and jumping waterfowl. When decoying waterfowl you will need to have time to get to the pond you are going, setting up decoys, making a blind and sitting out for hours at a time. When going out in the morning to decoy waterfowl, people will want to be to their hunting location about two hours early. When jumping waterfowl people do not need to set up decoys or be out to their hunting spot very early. People will not need a blind because people are sneaking up on the birds. When going to jump birds a person only has to be to where they are hunting about ten minutes early. It takes about thirty or so minutes to find, sneak up on, and shoot the waterfowl. Depending on the size of the lake and the wind people might end up waiting up to one hour waiting for a bird. When decoying and jumping birds you could have a short hunt or a long hunt. The effort for both decoying and jumping waterfowl can be the same. This is because you will have to take the time to scout, hunt, and retrieve the bird. For decoying people will have to take more time to scout birds. If a person does not scout very well they will not set the decoys right where the birds are and how they are sitting. With knowing where the birds are sitting people will get a more realistic looking decoy setup. For jumping waterfowl a person only has to know where there are birds at.
