I could not comprehend how I would balance my hectic schedule and write an essay on a topic as bleak as my name. Prior to my research, my name honestly did not have any sentimental meaning to me. As embarrassing as it is to admit, I honestly did not know the first thing about my first, middle, or last name. In the process of reading in the library and searching the Internet, I became restless in the pursuit of what my name meant to me, that is until I interviewed my mother. I began researching my name in my school’s library. My teacher set out books written specifically on the etymology and meanings of names. Sadly, I could not find any information pertaining to my last name, and the book in which I discovered my first name, “Hunter,” scarcely provided any quality material worth including. However, despite my persistent exploration of my first and middle name, I could not find any satisfying facts or clues as to why I might be named “Hunter Garrett.” Though I was thwarted and distressed with my findings, nothing could compare to the magnificent respect I would soon acquire once I knew the background story of my name. I had begun to lose all hope that I would ever find anything worthwhile regarding my name, considering that after two weeks of in depth research; I still could not process a sufficient answer to my question “what does my name mean to me?” My final resort was the interview, which I prepared for my mother. The inspiration that she described in her reasoning behind naming me “Hunter Garrett” was all I needed to inspire me to write this
