The definition of hunger according to Merriam-Webster dictionary is a craving or urgent need for food or a specific nutrient, an uneasy sensation occasioned by the lack of food, and/or a weakened condition brought about by prolonged lack of food(Merriam). Drinking this kind of water can cause cholera like the situation in the story above. Other diseases can also result from malnutrition. One of these other diseases is Vitamin A malnourishment, which can lead to blindness, and hurt your immune system. Another health issue is created when hunger leads to iron deficiency. Iron deficiency causes a decrease in red blood cell reproduction, the cells which help a person's body provide oxygen to all the tissues and organs, and so a decrease hurts the whole body system(Nutritional).
