He is your basic dictator. He keeps his subjects in check with the use of fear and that is why the Hunger Games is still in use. He must keep face in the eyes of the people or he will feel as though he is losing his hold on them. If anyone disrupts his power it is quickly followed by death. One should not lead an oppressed life when they can make a change to live freely. I believe that Suzanne Collins Wrote these books for multiple reasons, One being: post apocalyptic stories are really in right now. Also because oppression is something that everyone faces at some point in their life, even if it 's in small amounts, you have to decide whether you are going to take a stand or be held down. Taking a stand is a huge part of history as well we make changes for ourself if we don’t agree with how we are being treated. Maybe it was even Collins way of standing up herself. The moment when the uprising truly sparks is at the end of the book when Peeta and Katniss find a way to defeat the system of the Games by attempting committing suicide together. “We both know they have to have a victor” (344). They either had to crown two victors or have no victor at all.
