Panem was composed of Capitol and other thirteen districts, due to various reasons, riots broke out to against the Capitol, finally, the rebellions were put down, in the result the District 13 was destroyed. The class was defined as the same or similar interests which individuals have in common. For example, the different controls of purchasing power or consumption level, the methods of production, assets, resources and skills which build a special class circumstance (Weber,1968). With the development of the society, the concept of “class” has been evolved, nowadays, the general comprehension of “social class” which is tightly connected with people’s every-day activities. There are various key measurements such as individual’s poverty, occupation (manual labor and professional labor, blue-collar and white-collar), education level and symbolic behavior (what kind of clothes people wear, and what activities people take part in). Thus, social class influence many aspects of people’s material lives (Block,2014). In consideration of intersectionality, none of these measurements can be used for classifying people absolutely. Social class is not the individual characteristic but the ties to society. In the discussion of intersectionality, the class is always associated with gender, race, nationality and so on. The hunger game was created in memory of the rebellion; the reaping system is unfair which is based on the class status. Children are eligible for the reaping of the hunger game since they are 12 years old, their names will be entered every year until they are 18. People from District 12 who cannot afford their food, they can add their name more times to exchange the oil and grain. The upper-class people will have less risk of needing tessera of hunger games. People from rich districts have been trained since they were a kid, and their weapons and equipment are much better than the competitors in poor districts. The tributes from the upper class like District 1, 2, 3, have the opportunities to learn the survival skills and build up their strength, however, tributes from District 11 or 12 still struggling with the basic need of lives, they do not have more time and money to learn the ability and knowledge. This difference causes the disadvantages of District 12 in the hunger game.
