The main character is a teenage girl called Katniss and she lives with her mom and her sister. The story starts in a place called district 12 and it's the poorest district out of the 12 districts. Katniss is good at shooting arrows with her bows to hunt animals.there is an event called the hunger games were kids fight to the death when the tributes were chosen from random kids katniss’s sister was called out. but katniss volunteered in her place to go on a fight saving her sister from death. the reason behind the hunger games is to try and keep peace for all the 12 districts
I feel inspired and also a bit sad about this text but It gave me another view on poverty and the government, as in the book and real life the government is not fair at times and a lot of the time makes the wrong decisions about things. And this book helps show the affected a unfair government can have on people. The kind of things some people have to deal with and yet i felt inspired by katniss and her bravery and leadership the way she looks after her sister and takes control of a terrible situation is truly inspiring that is why Katniss was the most interesting character. At one point one of the contenders in the hunger games, Rue, who is only twelve, is killed and Katniss puts flowers all around her and sings a song to her as she slowly dies. It was such an emotional scene in the book I was almost in tears. Then there’s the very strange yet unsurprising romance between Katniss and Peeta which develops throughout the book. The author had you on the edge of your seat the whole time for example she made it really dramatic when katniss volunteers tribute for her little sister and in my opinion that part was the highlight of the book as it's the first time you get a real example of katniss's true
