Previous to the new land connecting the islands, the area was very lush and green. Now, the island is predominantly brown and grey. Most plant life has ceased from the area, along with wildlife because of the surplus of ash. On the other and, the island was affected positively because the land was expanded. 120 m. of land rose above the ocean . Also, atop the volcano would be a great tourist spot. Because you’d be standing on top of a towering volcano, you could over look the islands and the pacific ocean. One career where this information would be useful is a geologist.
