No matter where you go in life these words will cling to you like weights slowly dragging you down. “You’re too old to do this, it’s dangerous”, “You’re too young to believe in that, it’s unsafe”. The message behind The-Hundred-Year-Old Man Who Climbed out the Window and Disappeared by Jonas Jonasson and the movie Guardians of the Galaxy by James Gunn is to break these weights called age and danger, Live life to the fullest and do not let such things hold you back. The-Hundred-Year-Old Man Who Climbed out the Window and Disappeared follows the life of Allan Karlsson. It touches on his past and his clash with the infamous gang Never Again. On the flip side, Guardians of the Galaxy is about a man named Peter Quill, who has stolen a mysterious orb and is responsible for protecting it from the antagonist Ronan. The protagonist of The-Hundred-Year-Old Man Who Climbed out the Window and Disappeared and Peter Quill, who is the protagonist in Guardians of the Galaxy express many similarities throughout both the story and movie. Allan is the famous hundred year old man who managed to escape from his old folk’s home in the little town of Malmkoping. His great escape lead to many experiences and events which happened to involve stealing 37.5 million crowns from the gang Never Again and meeting many new people on his quest for freedom from his “prison” the old folks home. Julius Jonsson a thief, Benny Ljungberg a hot dog owner and a woman named Gunilla Bjorklund came along for the ride and became some of Allan’s closest friends and allies whom he would come to share the money and live with.
