Hello everyone! Thank you for being able to attend this awards ceremony dedicated to the men and women of the United Postal Service. This past year in 2020, we have seen many great achievements that the company and its workers should be very proud of. Right now, however, I am holding an award for someone who is actually near and dear to my heart. Most of you know him by either his last name, “Pyron” or his trucker handle “Python.” To me, he is “Dad.” Thirty-five years ago my Dad started working in this company as a package sorter. Throughout the years, he has progressed to being a package car driver, and then ultimately became the feeder driver that he is today. My Dad has put his heart and soul into helping this company become the well-oiled machine that it is …show more content…
I know in my heart that my Dad loves his job he enjoys being out on the open road and raising cane on these roads alongside his fellow feeder drivers. UPS even gave my Dad something outside of just work and friends, it was also a family. Thirty-one years ago while on a random package run to a business in downtown Memphis, my Dad meet my Mom, and long story short they ended up getting married, having two children, and even just celebrated their thirtieth wedding anniversary. It is not just my Dad who is grateful, it is also UPS. UPS is also grateful to my Dad, not only because of the time that he has worked here, but the hard work and energy that he has put into the company ever since he started when he was just nineteen years old. They hope that everyone here today will take some of that hard working mindset with them home today so that we can strive to make UPS better than what it is today. Without further ado, it is my great honor and privilege to present my Dad, Mr. Gregory Pyron, his award for thirty-five years of dedicated service to the United Postal

People’s achievements should be judged according to how much they help others because although all achievements should recognized, people who aid others in achieving their goal deserve more positive feedback because it encourages the act of being courageous. Someone who achieves a personal goal should definitely be recognized for his/her’s feat, but one who founds an organization to help refugees, or someone who tackles a man who was about to throw a grenade, should not only receive attention, but they deserve to be honored in a more dignified way than someone who is a daredevil. People’s achievements should be judged according to how much they help others because courageous acts that better the world need to be focused on more than courageous…

We often forget that not everyone in this country gets to see their families everyday and that often, our service men and women go weeks, even months, without seeing their loved ones, and more often than not, they miss birthdays, anniversaries, and even holidays, due to their commitment to keep this country free.…

“It doesn’t matter if you lost, the only thing that matters is that you don’t give up.” As a child, you told me this when I was struggling with math and penmanship. As a teenager, you consoled me by saying those words when I didn’t place in Current Events at Academic Decathlon. That phrase that would pass through my head when I was a little kid, is now engraved in my heart and in mind. Because you were there for me every single step of the way in my life, as an inspirational American soldier who advised me on how I could bravely reach my full potential while being that special guardian who take care of me when my parents were away.…

Veterans are a group of people that write a blank check totaling their life to the government. They fight to defend our country and every American citizen. Then when their service is done they come home to be unnerved and underappreciated. Veterans are: mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, sons, daughters, husbands, wives, and friends. The main thing we should do is make them known to others, so they know that we are there for them and let them know their service is more than appreciated, and we should let them know that and not let them be forgotten.…
