I believe that the motto “Once a Falcon, Always a Falcon,” is a perfect motto to describe myself as both a person and student. Growing up, I always took pride of my hometown (Vermilion, Ohio). My hometown, paired with the rollercoaster of experiences I endured throughout middle school and high school, made me who I am today. Granted, there were hard times and struggles, but I would not be where I am today had I not grown from those experiences. As I stated in my application, I represented my school and hometown at the 2013 Buckeye Boys Convention.…

“I have to go here, dad. I just have to,” I told my father during our first tour of Colorado Mesa University’s campus. “I already feel like a Maverick,” I admitted as I straightened out my new CMU ball cap from the campus bookstore. It was a strange feeling knowing that I would no longer be Lakeland High School’s most spirited student, but there was excitement in knowing that I would soon show my pride for Colorado Mesa. Images of my blue and white spirit wear quickly changed to be maroon and gold.…

Working again with the participants and building trust and a respect for one another has been great to acknowledge and receive. Along with the work in marketing and the cultural competency workshop, I have not just grown as a marketer, but as a leader who is confident to take chance on new tasks and skills. I have made great strides in growing the social and digital footprint of the organization. Every couple of feet, the NC State emblem is built into the sidewalk with white bricks on a maroon background. Seeing the different ethnicities of students as I walked to the Talley Student Union was different from what I had become accustomed to with working on the campus of a historically black college/university.…

My husband is an entertainer and most times, when he had a wedding reception to DJ, he would bring me along to help set up the equipment and gives me a chance to get out of the house. We were doing a reception at a large resort and as always, he got the party bustling. The only problem is, I’m not really the outgoing type of person so I usually just sit around for 4-5 hours, getting a couple of drinks while he works the party people.
