Hello Trina,

Thank you for your post. Welcome to the class and I am glad to meet you. I look forward reading your posts. I have never read any of Joel Osteen’s books but I do watch his podcasts, nonetheless I assume his books are very inspirational. I do not have the love for writing as you do but I love to verbally express myself.

I too look forward to sharing stories and posts with you. Good luck in this class and in whatever you do in life.

I liked that he used real life stories instead of made up stories. He used other books and people to add to the effect. I think he fulfilled his purpose because he made me understand and agree with him. I understand that he used his experience, but he was very one-sided. He did not use any logic to prove his point.…

College Prep Writing Advanced is the hardest class I have ever taken. I learned a lot over the course of this class, and I believe that my approach to writing has changed. I have learned that while writing it is easy to underthink, but it is easier to overthink. I also learned you cannot wait until the last minute to revise and edit essays. The first paper we wrote was the personal essay.…

I am very excited for the course and learning everything that comes along with it. I am planning on working in the healthcare field, so I am mainly looking forward to learning how to write more coherently and effectively. Once, I have a better understanding of those skills, they will benefit me in the long run. For example, I am going to be responsible to provide the correct information to the doctors I will be working with. They need to be informed on their patients and their situations and of course, these things have to be done without error.…

Over the course of this semester I learned a lot about myself as a writer. This English 1010 class has really allowed me to expand my essay structure and ways of thinking. When I first started this course, I was scared and didn’t really know what to expect. I branched out to different styles and types of essays as well as incorporating outside sources into my work. When I received my first essay back with the feedback and the grade, I realized that I was not a really good writer.…

Good afternoon, lovely ladies and gentle. Today, we are gathered here to commemorate the life of one of the most affectionate and well-rounded women I have encountered, my mother, Evangeline Afiwor Fiawoo, nee Tamakloe, alias Ete. She earned the alias, Ete, meaning aunt in my Native dialect, Ewe, because of her loving nature towards everyone she met, be it family or stranger. It is an immense honor to be given the privilege to pay tribute to her. Her relationship with her husband, children and grandchildren was unwavering, supportive and unfaltering.…

Going into this college writing class, I did not know what to expect. All I anticipated about this class was that it is a general education class, that was required to graduate. I figured there was essays, but I did not expect how much. This class has taught me good information that can further help with my writing career. I said at the beginning of the year that I might want to do a fashion blog.…

This class has taught me so much in ways of the writing process. I feel confident in moving forward with writing. I was a little intimidated at first by the expository essay, however, once I jumped into the class, it quickly became fun, educational. and helped strengthen my writing, and helped me realize my weaknesses. The biggest struggle I have had is the intext citations, and citing them properly, but since I have utilized the GCU resources, this I feel, is now under control. I look forward to growing more as writer, and look forward to my next research essay.…

Thank you for letting me know. I'm very surprised Tahel behaves like that, we both know her and it just doesn't sounds like her. Yesterday we worked on this and she seemed very confident and assured, however she was very disappointed about her grade. I told her that I am sure she will do better today but I don't know why she was so anxious about it.…

Privilege Looking back on my original tumblr account, I’ve known that I have privilege for at least four years. I might not have been feeling the same way about it as I am now, but I have at least been aware of my privilege. I used to feel guilty about my privilege and feel attacked when people pointed it out. My viewpoint used to be “Sure I have white privilege but it’s not my fault, I didn’t choose this, I’m not racist, don’t blame me, etc.” Over time I’ve realized that I shouldn’t be feeling attacked by people pointing out my privilege.…

In Unit two we have a lot learned about “Who Are You”. Many times as adults who are working and adults who have families we forget sometimes who we are. I have learned that we get so wrapped up in our careers and other obligations we lose ourselves in the process as an person. We can never say “no” to a family member or friend because we think that they need us. In so many times they don’t really need us.…

This class has been been one of the more interesting ones I 've taken between the Facebook posts from classmates with different life stories and experiences to some very interesting chapters in the textbook. I really liked that we had one girl that was from a completely different walk of life as an Orthodox Hindu. Sometimes it’s crazy to think that others live an entirely different life with their customs and we all live among each other. It was also nice seeing how good I 've really had things over the years from experiences with my family, religion, and even that I have my grandparents where I see many have grown up without that presence. There were certain chapters in the book that I found especially interesting.…

This class has been one of my most time consuming, but arguably favorite class, and I’ve gained the most useful knowledge from it. This class caused me to fight my own predetermined notions of how a paper is supposed to look like, it has also caused me to look more in depth in every aspect of my writing, especially in comparison to my other classes. I’ve never had such a difficult time receiving a good grade on a paper than I did in this class, nor have I had such a hard time actually structuring my paper. I’ve grown so accustomed to the standard intro, three body paragraphs, and a conclusion style paper that I had to break out of those standard conventions to do well in this course. I learned a lot about my writing choices, based on what the…

I have definitely learned a lot more from this class than I thought I would have. When this class started, I was not excited, because I have never liked writing, and felt that I was not very good at it. Now it’s coming to an end and fast. I always enjoyed coming to class because it went by quickly and was never dull. It started with free writes to help with our fluency, to class discussions, peer editing, and your revisions of our essays.…

Good afternoon Elders and Sisters. It is a privilege to be able to share my thoughts, feelings, and testimony with all of you today. I hope that what is said will invite the Spirit and will then enlighten and edify us all to help us in the work in which we are engaged, as well as in our personal lives. Seeing as this is a “reflection”, I would like to “reflect” on some of the things that have really helped me on my mission. As many of you know, it is impossible to cram two years of experience and learning into one short summary.…
