Humorists Everyone has a different sense of humor, whether it’s sarcastic or even stupid. Some, like Alain de Botton, the author of the 2004 novel Status Anxiety, believe that humorists play a vital role in society; however, that role cannot be considered vital in society today. While some believe that humorists are vital because they are able to make insulting (and sometimes inappropriate) insinuations about others, having the ability to get away with such an atrocity is not necessarily a good idea. For example, even though the show Seinfeld is used to poke fun at some of the things people say, do or act like, they may take offense to some of the content on the show; a Cigar Store Indian, a ‘Sidler’, even a holiday that one of the characters…

Humor is inevitable, it is around us every day and few people take the time to consider why we laugh. Darwin had theorizes about the social role of laughter, making suggestions that certain vocal expressions most often linked to internal emotional states may also function as a way of influencing others. That is truly a fascinating theory to say because humor can be seen as a foundation to team building. The two professions we’ve been looking at are heavily dependent on their co-workers who act as a family around one another all for the better interest of those in need of medical attention. Humor is found in almost every setting of a firefighter’s day and the nurses’ hospital.…

This sketch was one of the many moments Saturday Night Live as particularly feminist. Fey and Poehler, along with writer and performer Seth Meyers pointed out the fact that the way American politics was sexist; they were not going to remain quiet about, instead they pointed it out through a parody and got people thinking about the qualifications of the candidates rather than their sex. Another humorous feminist moment during the 2008 election was when Fey guest starred during a Weekend Update segment and called out people for calling Hillary Clinton “a bitch,” and, “along with heavily pregnant feminist bestie Poehler, turned her rant into a legendary tirade. She said yeah, Clinton was a bitch, and so was she, and so was Poehler, because “bitches get shit done”, turning an insult into a rallying cry” (Henderson). Fey and Poehler do so much for feminism, they do it with humor and sass but they get people thinking about women’s rights and get others to reassess how they view women.…

People in today’s society have adopted humor and comedies into their everyday lives, whether it’d be from shows such as Saturday Night Live or from a cartoon column in the newspaper. The success of these humorous selections comes from the entertainment value as well as the sheer value of laughter. Through these positive, light-hearted responses, viewers of humorous programs associate the authors of these comedies with harmless, beneficial motivations. Stephen Colbert relayed his thoughts during an interview, saying, “You can’t laugh and be afraid at the same time.” Thus, de Botton’s view on the role of humorists is correct as it identifies humorists as effective messengers.…

The concept of humor is targeted around a person producing a comical statement or something that produces laughter and enjoyment to an audience. In the book titled Status Anxiety by Alain de Botton, the writer hypothesizes that the position of humor in society is to bring out repressed mind and messages that regular human beings can relate and apprehend without restriction from others. I trust that de Botton's stance toward humor having a vital role within the feature of society is true, because humor does indiscreetly permit people to freely vocalize and itemize information without the contraints of society on them, but additionally gives people greater awareness of the presence of wrongs in a society through making the observation surrounding…

Traditionally, comedy involving beautiful blonde white women has sourced its humor from people’s perceived naivety and superficiality of beautiful blonde women.…

As humans, the species would like the believe that we have progress in both intellect and sexual selection, but Darwin asserts that the two work in conjunction with each other. a. A reader with an understanding of rudimentary biology would know this to be true. The reason that this passage is interesting is that most of the modified traits do not get passed down.
