Many people tend to use humor as a positive communication skill to make us laugh. Humor has long been used as a tool to navigate and promote stereotype through the form of media and popular culture with reference to current affairs. Humor can also be used to help people cope with the offensiveness of being stereotype. By defenition stereotype is known as a generalization, usually exaggerated or oversimplified and often offensive, that is used to describe or distinguish a group. In the last decade there has seen a staunch increase in technology and a rise in social media; this comes with its own benefits and downfalls. The use of stereotypical humor has been represented through these avenues and has become a crucial importance in not only dividing popular culture, but also holds the power to ferociously sway opinion and dangerously tarnish the reputation of political representatives.
