In the poem Casey at the bat , casey was trying to be cool and impress his friends and his fellow teamates , so when it was his turn to get on home plate and bat he was being prideful and he was telling the pitcher he was ready so when they threw the first two balls he struck out and he turned to look at the crowd and everybody was calling him a fraud and he felt upset and he thought he could hit the last one, the pitcher threw it and he missed and so his other two friends thought they could impress other people to so their turn came and they struck out two and they where so ashamed
