It may be call it Humayun’s tomb but this mausoleum was made with the sweat and blood of Bega Begum, Who spent all her wealth, health and time to build this amazing building. The building which is now just a tourist spot for travelers, a target for terrorists, a liability for the government and study material for architects and historians. While taking the ticket to see this grand Resting place of a King, lets feel the pain, joy and struggle behind the monument and start out journey with the story of a King his queen and her love.

After his death Humayun was buried in his castle in Purana Quila at Delhi but was later relocated to Shri Hind in Punjab, it was feared that Hindu King Hemu who was an old nemesis of Mughals might destroy the tomb. It was only after 9 Years of his death, he was laid in his tomb to Rest in peace.
Humayun’s tomb is an eternal symbol of a wife’s love for her husband and even though it is not claimed anywhere, one can easily credit it to be Taj Mahal’s Inspiration. Story of Humayun's tomb is the story of Bega Begum, First wife of Humayun, who was also known as Haji Begum. After the death of Humayun, Bega Begum made it her life goal to construct a grand and never seen before monument for her deceased husband.
Architectural Aspects of this tomb is breathtaking, to say the least. Mirak Mirza Ghiyas, who was the chief architect, designed this tomb with inspiration from Persian Architecture. How we are Destroying it:
“Well when we can’t do anything to improve it, sarcasm is the only way to express it”. Even though Humayun’s tomb has been categorized as World Heritage Site by UNESCO, vandalism and illegal encroachments has deprecated the invaluable treasure that we had. Even Though government is doing a lot of restoration work on the monument, you can still find love message graffiti on it. Lack of government intervention and corruption are the main causes for the declin health of the building.
More Recently the finial of the dome was knocked down by storm in the city, giving us a clear warning that our children might not have a chance to see it.
Final Words:
Standing in front of the Tomb in the Char Bhag garden, you can feel the history behind this monument. History not only about Mugal emperors but about the Partition of India too, Humayun's tomb and other such monuments were used as a refuge camp at the time of India and Pakistan
