I could use so many different aspects of my life. I often see this cultural difference in Jacob my fiancé and my dad Roger. My fiancé Jacob he grew up playing ice hockey which is not a common sport to play around here. My dad is a diehard Dallas Cowboys fan since I was in diapers. Dad played in high school and also loves to watch football on TV. Jacob used to go to local Thunder games and played hockey as well. Jacob was raised with hockey as his main sport and around Wichita to be a hockey fan and not a football or baseball fan is uncommon. This difference in sports in their culture changed the way they interacted with other men. Jacob told me “a lot of times guys don’t just start talking to another guy out of the blue and become friends we usually find something in common and that builds up the friendship with most guys that is sports.” Well, he does not care for football or baseball, so now he has to find something other to be the ice breaker such as movies or TV shows. My dad finds conversation easier he can talk about football all day he knows the latest touchdowns. I asked my dad how he starts conversations with other men he chuckled and said “I don’t know football.” It was amazing to me to think how just one small part of how they spent their time on different sports would change how they communicate with other
