The theoretical perspective I viewed to have the least merit is Humanistic Perspective. Humanistic perspective is an approach that sees human behavior as based on freedom of action of the individual and focuses on the human search for meaning (Hutchison, 2011, p. 63). For example when you are using a Humanistic perspective in politics and social theory the approach is different because it calls for human rights and equality, which are not always a good thing. Although, it calls for equality, some stuff is not always viewed as equal, take for instance a middle eastern walk around in the airport just to kill time and a police officer detained them because they look suspicious. In the world that we live in I do not have equality, because from the beginning of time we have been shown that African American, Hispanic, Pacific Islander, and the Caribbean Island are the minority group and that we do not belong. I recalled when I was working at Starbucks my manager who is the same age as I would think she had the right to look down her nose at me and basically act as though she my supervisor. I finally felt it was time to let her know how she made me feel, because I did not feel as though we were …show more content…
64). The items that they use to describe hierarch of needs are physiological needs: hunger, thirst, sex, safety needs: avoidance of pain and anxiety; desire for security, belongingness and love needs: affection, intimacy, esteem needs: self-respect, adequacy, mastery, and self-actualization: to be fully what one can be; altruism, beauty, creativity, justice (Hutchison, 2011, p. 64). I wanted to compare hierarchy of needs to efficacy expectation, which means an expectation that one can personally accomplish a goal (Hutchison, 2011, p. 62). The reason why I wanted to compare these two was because although they are similar to one another, they are very different, each of them stems from a different perspective. Efficacy expectation stem from social behavioral perspective it plays a major role in motivation and human, while hierarchy of needs stem from a humanistic perspective (Hutchison, 2011, p. 62). The difference between the two is that humanistic perspective coherence and conceptual clarity explains that humanistic perspective is often criticized for being too vague and highly abstract, with concepts such as “being” and the phenomenal self.” while, social behavioral opinion their ideas are logically developed in a consistent manner (Hutchison, 2011,
